YFC & Big Brothers Big Sisters Partnership:

Youth for Christ has formed a partnership with Big Brothers that has proven to be very effective. They work together to provide a quality and safe mentoring ministry to young people in the Kalamazoo Area.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters is responsible for…

• Interviewing mentors and doing a thorough background check
• Interviewing students who are interested in having a mentor
• Interviewing guardians of these students
• Providing monthly support and contact with mentors, mentees and parents
• Providing occasional activities and opportunities for the mentors and mentees
• Doing regular assessments of the match to make improvements as needed

Youth for Christ is responsible for…

• Recruiting the mentors
• Training the mentors before they begin and providing ongoing training after they are matched
• Pairing up mentors with students that we know who desire to have a mentor
• Providing quarterly events that are fun, safe and Christ-centered
• Recruiting and communicating monthly with 3 prayer partners for each Merge match
• Hosting a yearly Merge Banquet Celebration for all of the mentors, mentees, prayer partners and their families.
• Being an ongoing resource for mentors, mentees and their families
