Juvenile Justice Ministries (J.J.M.) Volunteer Opportunities
1. Juvenile Home Small Group Bible Studies.
When-
Monday night Girls group. Meets 6:30-7:45. (Female volunteers)
Monday night Boy’s groups. Meets 7:00-7:45. (Male volunteers)
What-
* Opportunities to teach basic Bible truths in a small group setting in a discussion format.
* Curriculum can be provided or Bible studies can be crafted by the volunteer if desired and able.
* Opportunities to help assist and support the Bible study leaders in a small group setting.
* There is also opportunity to spend more individual time with students after the Bible study, talking, playing games and just spending time with students.
The Goal-
* The goal is to build relationships with the students and to teach them the basic truths of who God is and how they can know Him through Jesus Christ and His work at the cross.
2. Juvenile Home Chapel Ministry.
When-
* Thursday nights from 6:00-7:30, or Sunday mornings from 7:45-9:30.
What-
* Helping with setting up for the service and tearing down at the end of the service.
* Helping with the sound system.
* Helping with snacks.
* Greeting and encouraging the young people who come to the service.
* Opportunities to help lead in the prayer time.
* Opportunities to help with teaching and preaching.
* Opportunities to use music talents.
* There is also opportunity to spend more individual time with students after the Chapel service, talking, playing games and just spending time with students.
The Goal-
* The goal is to build relationships with the students and to teach them the basic truths of who God is and how they can know Him through Jesus Christ and His work at the cross.
3. Mentoring.
What-
* In partnership with our Youth For Christ Merge Mentoring ministry to become a Mentor to a young person at the Juvenile with the plan that the mentoring would continue with the student after they leave the Juvenile Home.
* This would be a commitment to meet with that young person once a week for a year.
* Training and support would be provided through our Merge Mentoring staff.
The Goal-
* To build a trusting relationship with the young person.
* To support and encourage them.
* To be an example of a follower of Jesus to them.
* To share the love and hope of God with them and to point them to a personal relationship with God through Jesus and His work at the cross.
