Although he said yes to Jesus in fourth grade, Matthew’s calling into ministry came as a junior in high school when he was an exchange student in Sweden. Living among a teen culture that was not following Jesus, Matthew felt asked by the Lord, “If someone like you doesn’t tell them about Me, who will?” This led Matthew into vocational ministry, first studying youth ministry and missions at Huntington University, and then serving the Kingdom in Christian camping, church youth ministry and international mission work, all working together to sharpen a passion and vision for equipping, encouraging and empowering ministry leaders. In 2024, the Lord called Matthew and his family to return to the States from Uganda to put down deep roots in the Kalamazoo/Richland area, and through a season of prayerfully seeking the Lord’s will, he was invited to pour into ministry leaders at YFC. Matthew is ecstatic to be part of what God is doing in Kalamazoo YFC because it combines his passions for youth ministry and investing in ministry leaders. Matthew is most happily married to Ally (#mallyforever), and they have two incredible kids (Asher and Hannah).
