The Campus Life site at the Fort Custer Training Center serves cadets participating in the Michigan Youth Challenge Academy through a partnership with Youth for Christ USA. At this site, Youth for Christ staff and volunteers build authentic, Christ-centered relationships with cadets as they work through the academy's structured residential program focused on leadership, discipline, and personal growth. Through mentoring, group gatherings, and spiritual conversations, Campus Life provides encouragement and support as cadets develop character, resilience, and a sense of purpose. After completing the program, eligible graduates have the opportunity to continue their growth by transitioning in the Michigan Youth Job Challenge Program, where they can receive hands-on career training, certifications, and job readiness skills that help prepare them for long-term employment and independent success.
VOLUNTEER NEEDS
1. MOST NEEDED!! Volunteers to meet one on one with students to biblically talk through cadets current challenges. Most students need sounding boards and guidance as it pertains to making better decisions. We typically have between 110 and 150 students each week. The need for one on one's is great.
2. Need to assist students during praise and worship. Be examples on how it is done.
3. To assist in one on one continued studies weekly with students
4. Be available on Sundays between 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Not every Sunday is needed, but the more your participate, the more effective we as a team become.
EXPECTATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
We expect each volunteer to be a baptized follower of Christ actively living out loud in their walk with Him. Each person has to understand that the students we are dealing with have had a variety of life challenges and come from all backgrounds of life. Open hearts and open minds are a must. Understand this is not church as usual. Services are non-denominational in nature.
