Kalamazoo YFC | COVID-19 Statement | March 19, 2020

As valuable church partners, business partners, individual supporters, prayer partners and volunteer ministry leaders, Kalamazoo YFC wants you to know how we are responding to the current health crisis.

First and foremost, our response is one of safety, wisdom, and submission to those in authority over us. It is not, however, a response that is based in fear. Our God was in control before this pandemic. He is in control in the midst of it. He will remain in control once it has passed. We place our full faith and trust in Him to guide, protect and provide for us during this time. Our prayer is that more and more people realize, during this health crisis, our obvious need for a Savior.
To be specific, our response includes:
  • No longer meeting in-person with students at our ministry sites until, at least, the end of March
  • No longer meeting with volunteers, donors or other partners for the same timeframe
  • Having most all of our staff work from home, and having the office open at reduced hours
  • Postponing our April events with later events currently planned as scheduled

Second, while we are not meeting with students face-to-face at this time, ministry to students still continues! YFC is committed to being ambassadors of peace, trust, confidence, security and most importantly, hope to teens who are feeling anxious and asking a lot of questions. We remain secure in the Lord and His peace—on mission and always about the message of Jesus. YFC will always be here for kids, ages 11-19. And to do so in this critical time, our theme during this season is “replace, not cancel”. Our response is innovation in the ways we reach youth, through technology, social media, and other means. A common theme of YFC ministry through our 75 years has been, “Geared to the times…Anchored to the Rock”. So, if the times call for “virtual ministry” then that is what we will do!

Third, we want to serve YOU during this time. Whether you need someone to bring you groceries, want someone to pray with you, or just need a listening ear, please feel free to call us. We would love to serve you in any way that we can. You can call the office at 269.388.3888 or call Executive Director, Scott McCloughan, at 269.760.1023.

Last, we invite you to pray with us and for us. Please pray that the students we are reaching will turn to God during this time more than ever. Please also pray for wisdom as we daily make decisions about ministry in these ever-changing times. Last, we would welcome your prayers for provision for our ministry during economic uncertainty. Kalamazoo YFC has no anxiousness or worry. God has faithfully supplied every need of ours for 75 years and we are trusting in Him for the days ahead. Giving can be done through our website (www.kalamazooyfc.org/give) or mailed in (P.O. Box 51487, Kalamazoo, MI, 49005) without even having to leave your home.

Thank you for your prayers & partnership!

Scott McCloughan

Executive Director
